A big part of what makes our robotics team special is the friendships made and the enthusiasm we have for sharing what we do with others. At LLCA Robotics, we are all in for BEST, and we start our year with the plan to earn the coveted BEST award. We are super excited that we were awarded the Second Place Best award at Tennessee Valley BEST on October 14, 2018.
The BEST Award is presented to the top three teams that best represent the concept of boosting engineering, science and technology. The BEST Award is the most coveted award at BEST competitions. The judging criteria are:
Kick-off Day was on August 31, 2019.
While our engineering department designed the robot and detailed their efforts in the engineering notebook, our marketing division focused on earning maximum points for spirit and sportsmanship. Here are some of the things we did:
Hosted a photo booth for everyone to use, prepared with little accessories like hats, masks and mustaches. That's what we needed to keep everyone happy and with a memory to take home with them.
Designed bright shirts to promote BEST and catch eyes wherever we went
Custom designed blue and white pom poms, turtles to hold and shake around while our robot was working hard!
Made spirit signs to show what school we represent!
We were prepared to display our team spirit in loud and wacky ways, but something new this year was a ocean life photo booth for everyone to take pictures in. Game Day fell on the Saturday of Fall Break for most area school systems.
We had a mini game where you try to grab the trash from out of the gyres and save the fish. It had very cool prizes like turtle key chains, turtle necklaces, and very cute sea life stuffed animals. We want everyone to have a positive experience attending game day, so they grow up to love robotics and STEM as much as we do.
